A young boy’s imagination

Growing up in China during an incredibly dynamic period, the perspective I view my homeland and the world is broader than past generations. Exploring endless possibilities has always been my goal in life, and if there is one most important thing during this journey, it would be the magic of communication. As a practical and applied industry of the communication area, advertising has caught my attention from an early age.

While admittedly cliché, my decision to pursue advertising as my career was of course influenced by my childhood love for cars. As I pored over countless automotive magazines, I developed a deep fondness for the cleverness in automakers’ print ads. Whether Porsche’s sarcastic jabs at other auto manufacturers during the 1970s or the Mercedes-Benz ad war with Jaguar, I wanted nothing more than to learn why these ads were so engaging and effective and how they were created. However, my passion for advertising didn’t just stop with cars, and as my interest in advertising grew, I started to look at this industry in general and became more attracted to it as a great piece of an ad is a perfect fusion of business and art.

After seeing endless advertisements that made me cry throughout these years, my study of art kicked in, making me more comfortable capturing heart-warming moments and turning them into thoughts over advertising ideas. (To see my art projects, please go to the photography section.)

Now that this young boy has grown his years into an adult, it is the world for him to explore the boundaries of art and advertising.
